What we do

Flyover Media publishes The Greenwich Wire, the only dedicated digital news outlet in the borough. It was founded in July 2019: previously the site was run by Darryl Chamberlain as a sole trader, and before that as a hobby.

We provide public interest and community journalism to fill the gap left behind by fading traditional news outlets. We are part of the Independent Community News Network and in the BBC’s Local News Partnerships scheme.

The company exists to provide transparency for the 140+ SE London residents and businesses who help fund the website by donating small amounts each month. Without their money, the website would cease to exist. It has also been set up to raise funds to expand the websites’ work and develop new projects.

You can inspect our filings at Companies House.

As a community interest company, all profit is reinvested back into the business. If the business is wound up, any remaining money will be donated to The Arts Emergency Service, a charity which helps people from non-affluent backgrounds enter the arts and media.

We operate in southeast London: primarily in the borough of Greenwich and nearby neighbourhoods, but we aim to provide services that benefit all who live and work in SE London.
