Flyover Media publishes two of south-east London’s best-known news websites – 853 and The Charlton Champion.
We provide public interest and community journalism to fill the gap left behind by fading traditional news outlets. Our sites are members of the Independent Community News Network and are involved in the BBC’s Local News Partnerships scheme.
The company exists to provide transparency for the 100+ SE London residents and businesses who help fund the websites by donating small amounts each month – without their money, the websites would cease to exist. It has also been set up to raise funds to expand the websites’ work and develop new projects.
As a community interest company, all profit is reinvested back into the business. If the business is wound up, any remaining money will be donated to The Arts Emergency Service, a charity which helps people from non-affluent backgrounds enter the arts and media.
We operate in south-east London: primarily in the boroughs of Greenwich and Lewisham, but we aim to provide services that benefit all who live and work in SE London.
