The Charlton Champion

The Charlton Champion aims to provide news and information for the Charlton area of southeast London.

Sandwiched between Greenwich, Blackheath and Woolwich and best-known for its football club, Charlton is a frequently overlooked area. Along with its neighbours, its has changed in recent years with better transport links; but the pace of change is set to accelerate in the 2020s as former industrial land by the river is transformed into new residential communities.

Edited by Darryl Chamberlain and Neil Clasper, The Charlton Champion seeks to provide all you need to know about life in this growing area, following local events, bringing news of local planning and other issues and encouraging a range of community contributors to share their takes on life in SE7. It also takes material from the Local Democracy Reporter for Greenwich borough, Tom Bull.

Site readers also pay towards its running costs, while in 2018 a series of Charlton Champion postcards also contributed to its funding. Flyover Media aims to build on the site’s success by putting it on a more sustainable footing, enabling it to broaden the range of contributors and for it to play a greater part in local life in the area.
