Flyover Media will examine opportunities and seek funding for future projects in the SE London area – in print, online, and in person.
Both Greenwich and Lewisham boroughs have been poorly reported in recent years. Until the creation of the Local Democracy Reporter Service, there was no regular reporting of Greenwich Council, except for Darryl’s reporting for 853. The situation was even worse in Lewisham.
We will look to expand our existing websites and create new products to make people better informed, and to get residents more involved in the decision-making processes in their area. We are considering a printed publication in Greenwich borough, and expanding 853’s reporting to cover more of Lewisham. These cannot proceed without extra funding and more people getting involved.
In time, Flyover Media would like to provide and commission programmes that will give residents the skills to carry out their own investigations, and to help improve media literacy – a pressing issue with disinformation disrupting public discourse at a global, national and local level.
